Hey all!
I know, I know, it's been a really long time. Like the title says....woops! Hope you all have been having a fantastic semester! So lets talk about this - the first day of Spring, it snows...the next day...it snows again. Oneonta, why? Sigh...guess we'll have to get used to it.
Sigma Gamma Phi has been crazy busy as of late, between Relay for Life, our New Members being initiated (Congrats girls!) and our Spring Alumni Weekend. As a team, Sigma Gamma Phi raised $2,233 for Relay, and won three awards. I'm so proud of the hard work everyone put in to make our participation so successful. At our Alumni Weekend, we had a fantastic turnout, with alumna from the 90s coming to visit! It was great to hear their tales of school in the 90s, and it was awesome to see them reunite with their pledge sisters!
Coming up soon, we'll be participating in Into the Streets, which is a community-wide community service day. People form teams and are assigned to different locations, and there is generally a great turnout! Sigma Gamma Phi is excited to see where we'll be assigned to this year!
More to come soon...enjoy the snow!
Hey all! I'm Lora and I'm a student at SUNY Oneonta. I'm a member of Sigma Gamma Phi, a recognized sorority at my school. This blog is just a fun way to let people know what Greek life is about here on the Oneonta campus!

Busy Busy Busy
So, we're only 2 weeks into the semester and life is crazy already!
Recruitment was successful for all chapters, with 80 something bids handed out! Thusa has 16 fabulous new members, and we're so excited for them!
Sigma Gamma Phi and Phi Kappa Psi are putting on our first annual Diabetes Walk on Feb. 13th, so we've been busy planning since we came back to school. The walk will be held from 2-6pm, with registration beginning at 1pm. Anyone can pre-register (for $3 as opposed to on-sight registration which costs $5) by coming to our table in Mills on Wednesday the 2nd from 11:30-3:30 or by emailing us at sucodiabetes@gmail.com. We hope to have a great turnout, and there will be food and entertainment (thank you Kickline, Hooked on Tonics, Kevin Shea, and Bobby Zinke!) We hope to see you there!
We're also participating in Can-struction with semester with Alpha Phi Delta, and we hope to be able to raise enough funds to purchase 1000 cans. Wish us luck!
Hope everyone's semester is going well so far, more updates later!

Happy New Year!
Here's to a new year, a new semester, and a whole new recruitment week! Greek life will be abuzz for the first 2 weeks, with fraternity and sorority socials, meet the Greeks, sorority tea, bid day, and many other IGC (Inter-Greek Council) events! Between the start of new classes and recruitment, we'll all be kept on our toes at the start of the semester.
As the newly elected Sigma Gamma Phi Community Service chair, I'm working to coordinate with Phi Kappa Psi to put on a Diabetes Walk on Feb 13th! We're hoping to have a great turnout for this event, and also hope to raise awareness and funds for the fight of this disease. More details as they come.
That's all I've got for now, hope you all have a good trip back up to Oney, and I'll be back with more on recruitment at a later date!
